In the 1930’s Don Alberto Pacas, a pioneer in the coffee industry in El Salvador, began experimenting with different varieties of coffee trees from his own plantations, using the seeds from the best trees.

After years of observations into his experiments, Don Alberto finally came out with the tree he was looking for. From this tree comes what we know today as the “variedad Pacas” a very special variety grown in the region, named after his own last name “Pacas”.

Years later and with the cooperation of the Coffee Institute of El Salvador the legendary Pacamara was born, a unique and rare coffee variety that resutled from the crossing of the famous "Maragogype" Arabica and the "Pacas” variety.

In the 1950´s El Salvador became one of the 5 top producers of coffee in the world. Since then, El Salvador´s coffee is well recognized by coffee experts around the world.
